Free dump sites in Houston
The City of Houston runs six drop-off sites that City of Houston residents can use for free. Contractors and businesses cannot.
- North: 9003 N Main, 77022
- Northwest: 14400 Sommermeyer, 77041
- Northeast: 5565 Kirkpatrick, 77028
- Southeast: 2240 Central Street, 77017
- South: 5100 Sunbeam, 77033
- Southwest: 10785 SW Freeway, 77074
Rules to know
- Free for City of Houston residents, up to four visits a month.
- Bring proof of residency: a Texas driver license or ID plus a recent utility bill or a city property tax receipt.
- Contractors, businesses and commercial vehicles are not allowed.
- You unload everything yourself, and the wait can be long (up to about two hours).
- Vehicles over two tons and trailers with compartments longer than 16 feet are not accepted.
- Building materials: up to four cubic yards, and no roofing shingles, brick or plaster.
- Appliances that hold refrigerant need a tag showing a technician removed it.

- Opening days and hours. Two city pages disagree (Tuesday or Wednesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Call 311 first.
- Whether people outside the City of Houston limits (for example Spring) can use them. The city rules above are for City of Houston residents.
